GuildMag is an unofficial digital magazine made by fans of Guild Wars. Completely free and published as a readable .pdf file. With it we hope to share our interest and passion for the game as well as offer new insights and information.

With every release we bring you quality Guild Wars material such as lore, art, fan-fiction and comedy.

GuildMag was founded in the month of May 2010 by Nox and Dutch Sunshine and they quikly elaborated on the idea of making a digital magazine created by the fans of Guild Wars (A fanzine if you will). A day after the initial idea was brought forward the website for the magazine was set up under the name of ‘TyriaMag’, avid discussions were held on the forums and applications and submissions kept coming in. From those applications Jonny10 and Asuran were assigned as designers for the magazine and Draxynnic, Feathermoore, Free Runner, Daelin Dwin and Konig Des Todes as regular writers.

Unfortunately Nox had to leave the project due to lack of time to realize the magazine. Dutch Sunshine lead the project further as we ran into our first problem, the name. ArenaNet said that they’d rather not have us use the name with ‘Tyria’ in it because it could mislead people to thinking that this magazine was related to the company itself. After a two hour brainstorm on MSN we came to the decision to call the magazine ‘GuildMag’, as the name implies it stands for ‘Guild Magazine’.

With the new name decided Jonny10 took the initiative to get a new website up and running and Dutch started hyping the fans multitasking more than an octopus bartender! In the weeks to come the design team put together all sorts of concepts until we finally agreed on the style we thought was the best looking and most readable. With the content ready and the design template set we started production of the magazine and released our first issue on the 7th of May 2010. It was very well received by the community and motivated us to delivery even better quality in the magazine (Our first issue was plagued with spelling errors, we learned English from movies you know).

After the first issue was released we received numerous applications for writer positions and our much needed ‘grammatical editor’ position. Izari, Maglama, Thalador Doomspeaker, Malchior Devenholm, Arghore, San Darkwood and Twitchy joined the team. Yes that’s quite a lot of people, the team was doubled that week.
We have built a qualitative, talented and enthusiastic team over time and with it we hope to bring you the best from the Guild Wars universe through the medium of a magazine. On the 21th of June 2010 GuildMag started support of a Podcast by Sabre Wolf and Malchior Devenholm called GuildMag PodCast. That’s not all though, as we plan to expand even further! Just keep an eye out :)
