Ravious from KillTenRats.com has received an email stating that next week we’ll be seeing a Norn-ish variant of the recent Human Week! To find out more and how Ravious thinks you should prepare for next week, head over to kill ten rats!

I’ve been officially told, norn week starts next week (with norn-sized versions of the tasty snacks human week brought us), and that gives us all plenty of time to get prepared this weekend. These shape shifting half-giants want to live life to the fullest. Their goal in life is to live eternally in legend. A skaald telling tales of a norn’s life is one of the highest pinnacles of achievement for anybody. At least that’s what the norn think. Their tale is an interesting one. Are they fallen kodan or half-human? Are their totem spirits splinters of the same gods the human’s worship? Does it matter? They are norn. And that’s that.

Today marks the release of the long-awaited dervish upgrade, perhaps one of the most drastic updates ever concerning one specific profession. Over 90% of the dervish skills have been redesigned making it almost look like a whole new profession! They’ve also added a new mechanic: Flash Enchantments!

    Here’s a sneak-peak:

We approached this update for the Dervish by first examining what role we’d like him to fulfill. At the moment, the Dervish fulfills a hodgepodge of roles, including melee fighter, condition applier, PBAoE spellcaster, and healer. However, none of these roles really defines the Dervish in the same way that “minion master” describes Necromancers or “nuker” describes Elementalists. When developing a defined role for the Dervish, we looked at what types of gameplay mechanics his skills tended to have. Of these mechanics, we determined which ones added value to parties in PvE and PvP.

If you want to read more about the dervish update and see what it all causes to change? Head over to the Developer Update on the official Guild Wars site!

A new week, a new post, it seems that ArenaNet has really put their last information lull behind. This time Jerramen O’Donnell talks to you about the Quality Assurance (QA) department over at ArenaNet in a rather interesting long blogpost!

Hi, I’m Jerramen “Yamen” O’Donnell, a member of ArenaNet’s Quality Assurance (QA) department. As a longtime Guild Wars player, I was lucky enough to join the company just in time for the big unveiling of the Guild Wars 2 demo at gamescom last year. During my time here, I’ve been really impressed with how ArenaNet incorporates QA as an integrated part of the development process, and I’d like to share with you what we’re doing to make sure Guild Wars 2 is the best game it can possibly be.

You may have read about working as a game tester, or maybe you know someone who works in QA at a game studio. Perhaps you’ve been told that that QA is a dream job where testers get paid to drink soda and play video games all day. Alternatively, you may have heard that QA work consists of long hours of mind-numbing grunt work, or that QA testers are easily replaceable drones who don’t contribute to the actual development of a title. The truth is that across the industry there are companies where these descriptions aren’t far from reality.

    ArenaNet is different, though.

Read on to find out why ArenaNet is different from the rest over at the official ArenaNet blog!

    gwlove

There are many who say there’s no place for love in a world at war (or a video game, for that matter). But the citizens of Tyria are apt to disagree: instead, Guild Wars is full of some fantastic love stories, some loud and proud, others somewhat subtle, and a handful that are downright comical. In honor of the month of all things romantic, I thought I’d give a quick homage to  four of our favorite couples and love stories. Read the rest of this entry »

Bickering Military Orders, Plotting Ministers, Fallen Angels, and Murder in Divinity’s Reach – Now that is what I call a lore blogpost!

Today we had the very last update of the exciting ‘Human Week:’ a blogpost dealing with the three main law-enforcing organizations of Kryta and their relationship. The loreful article was written by Guild Wars 2’s Goddess of Lore, Ree Soesbee. To make the walls of lore goodies more enjoyable, Ree has also sprinkled her work with intriguing excerpts of a criminal investigation happening in Divinity’s Reach. Let’s take a closer look!
