This week in Guild Wars 2
Written by Raphia Naon // January 18, 2013 // Community // 3 Comments

Darkhaven had a rough time during the last month or so: it’d be charitable to refer to it as a WvW freefall. This week is the first time in a while that we’ve been putting in a more creditable WvW performance since early December. I guess everyone really is finally back from the holidays.
On a personal level, I finally got my second alt character (my human mesmer) up to level 80 last weekend. Also, just to let you know you can all stop trying now: one of my guild officers and I finally killed Zhaitan late last night (with a bit of help from other folks), so the war is over and everyone can all go back to their ancestral homes… and I must say that the rewards for killing the big bad are pretty paltry.
Our guild also suffered our first bank heist this week — and it was an inside job. A new guild member joined us about two weeks ago, and left after just over a week in RTH. According to the Guild Bank log, an “unknown” person took about a dozen weapons and a dozen sigils/runes/etc., plus a variety of crafting goods just before that player left our guild. (The heist garnered him at best 2-3 gold in total. The weapons would have been useful to mid-level players, but there were no really expensive items: the runes might have been worth more than the weapons.) I’m assuming since the log lists the player as “unknown” that the player’s account has been disabled or removed. If nothing else, it reinforces our policy of only allowing full member access to the Guild Stash (the top level of the Guild Bank) and not to the Treasure Trove or (when we build it) the Deep Cave. Oh, and also not leaving any money lying around in the stash…

Official Guild Wars 2 news
- On the official Guild Wars 2 forums, Colin Johanson posted on the topic Where’s the Scavenger Hunt post?: “Just a quick update on where the whole scavenger hunt system stands since I know that’s a topic many of you have brought up recently. We’re not currently actively working on building any sort of legendary precursor scavenger hunt, this is something we want to do in the future and we’re in the midst of designing how this would function, but no one is actively building this feature and you should not expect in the Jan/Feb/March releases at this point.”
- On the official Guild Wars 2 forums, Mike Ferguson posted on the topic Willing to share WvW details?: “Unbuilt siege sites that are placed by players will go away if someone does not bring supply to them within 10 minutes. Anyone that adds supply to a site should reset that timer. Completed siege weapons will despawn if they haven’t been manned for 30 minutes. Why do we have to do this? Each weapon takes up some small amount of resources on the server because we register a few pieces of data for each weapon in the field. One thing we absolutely cannot do is remove the timer entirely or else we have a situation where someone can put down a ton of weapons that could potentially be around forever (or until matches reset) and it would start to cause bad things to happen to the server. We also use some placement restrictions to help prevent there being too many siege weapons on the field.” [Raphia: H/T to The Egg Baron for this link.]
- GuildWars2.com — Colin Johanson on Guild Wars 2 in the Months Ahead. “Happy 2013 everyone! I wanted to take the time to provide insight on some of the exciting features, events, and stories we intend to bring to Guild Wars 2 in the first half of the New Year. It’s been a fantastic ride so far – in the few months since Guild Wars 2 launched we’ve sold more than three million games and have become the most critically acclaimed MMO of 2012. We’ve introduced the new Fractals of the Mists dungeon experience, brand-new PvE and PvP maps, events of all sizes, our Lost Shores world event, and two massive holiday events.”
- On the official Guild Wars 2 Facebook page: “Slingblade the community-created Stormbluff Isle site recently talked about educating new Guild Wars 2 players: http://www.stormbluffisle.com/index.php/forum/wvw/1339-you-catch-more-flies. Now it’s your turn to tell us here on Facebook: What tips, hints, or advice would you give to a new member of the Guild Wars 2 player community? What’s that one little thing you wish you’d known right away? ~RB2″
- On the official Guild Wars 2 forums, Colin Johanson posted on the topic Will existing achievements get converted?: “The initial version will only be for daily/monthly achievements (this will not be retroactively rewarded.) Later you’ll see a system in place that rewards more expanded achievements points which will retroactively reward all achievements already earned, yes. However, there are some achievements which are infinitely repeatable currently. It is highly likely so this new system isn’t broken we’ll need to cap those and people who have made insane progress down one of those lines will lose some of their progress to get back to the cap. I wouldn’t recommend anyone go bonkers trying to progress an infinitely repeatable achievement category in anticipation of the release of this system, as you will likely lose some points/progress if you take it to an extreme number. We’re still working out the details on the system, so that’s about as far into detail as I can go currently.”
- GuildWars2.com — Guesting is Coming! “CITIZENS, I have an important announcement to make. Previously, we’ve talked about a feature called guesting, which allows you to play with your friends on other worlds. The wait is over! Guesting is coming to a world near you with our update on January 28th! Before I go into more detail about how it will work and what kinds of restrictions exist, I want to talk about a very important change that will come with the introduction of guesting: free world transfers will no longer be available. With the current restriction of one transfer every 7 days in place, make sure that you will be on the world you intend to play on before January 28th, because after that date, you’ll have to pay a gem fee to transfer worlds.”
- Guild Wars 2 Hub — Guild Wars 2 Live Stream Q&A Transcript. “Over on the official Guild Wars 2 Twitch Channel is a live developer Q&A session revolving around the latest announcement made by Colin Johanson several days again.”
- Dulfy — GW2 Dev Livestream Jan 17 Transcript. “GW2 Dev Livestream transcript for Jan 17, 2013 to discuss GW2’s future content with developers Jonathan Sharp, Matt Witter, and Mike.”
- Guild Wars 2 Junkies — Dev Live Stream Summary – Twitch Live Stream with Mike Zadorojny, Jonathon Sharp, and Matt Witter. “During this live stream, a lot of questions were answered in regards to the 2013 update blog that Colin Johanson wrote this week. We got confirmation on a few things and there are a few others items that we learned. The highlights concern a nerf to AOE damage across the board. Arenanet will attempt to rebalance the usage of AOE attacks. The example they gave was that if your single target attack did 10 damage, and your AOE did 8 damage to 5 targets; a player would most likely use the AOE all the time. They do not want this to be the case, so expect some major nerfs to this in the future.”
- Reddit — Jan 17 dev livestream summary. “The livestream lasted 20 minutes and was 3 developers talking about PvE/sPvP/WvW. This is some rough notes that I took.”

With so many activities and beautiful scenery, it wasn’t hard to get swept up in the joy of the season.”
- The Bare Bones – Elites. “In Guild Wars 2, one of the biggest moments for a character and their player is that triumphant moment when they reach level 30 and gain access to the last button on their skill bar, their “Elite Skill.” These abilities are the crème de la crème, and are the most distinct abilities in the game. Each class gets three and today we’ll be taking a quick look at the necromancer’s. (I warn you, I may show favoritism towards one of these.)”

Ravaged by the Sons of Svanir, it’s your job to rid the ship of the corrupted icebrood and protect the Kodan’s magical artifacts. Each path can be quite lengthy if you’ve an inexperienced group but with experience, can take as little as 20 minutes. It should also be noted that two bosses are underwater, so be sure to have good trident, spear or harpoon gun at the ready. In this first guide, we cover path 2: “the Plunderer”.”

- Guild Wars 2 Trading Post — Stock Market or Trading Post? “You know, I really do wish this were possible. If you buy 1 gold worth of gems and try to resell them, you will get back approximately 73 gold and change (that’s a ~36.XX% fee!). Gems do not go up or down 36% in a single day, so day trading is out of the question.”

- Foundation — Charr-ming Gazette 1 : Character Creation 10 Year Rule. “Greetings fellow Tyria enthusiasts. I’m starting a series about the pros and cons of Guild Wars 2, from the lore, to the gameplay, and all the side features. The goal is to explore explore what’s good, and give some input on what’s bad. This will doubtless be a long series considering the vastness of Guild Wars 2. So starting at the beginning, character creation, specifically, sliders.”
- Distilled Willpower — Obtaining your Token of Legend – The Scavenger Hunt. “ANet have let slip that the long-awaited precursor scavenger hunt is not expected any time soon. They’re discussing how to approach it, but there isn’t anyone actively working on getting it set up. I appreciate why they’re taking their time with it – legendary weapons are one of the most hotly debated topics on GW2 forums, and the most hotly debated of all has to be the random number generator (RNG) controlled elements.”
- Reddit — My “Star Wars” inspired character! “This took me a bit, but is finally complete! http://imgur.com/a/F3b4I It’s actually all “light” armor — a dagger/dagger elementalist! - Guild Wars 2 Hub — New Trading Post Scraper – GW2TP. “This is a little gem of a find that materialised in my inbox this morning. As another Trading Post scraper, it does things a little differently than GW2Spidy. In simple terms, it simply calculates a “flip” profit on a series of items that have a large amount of supply/buy orders. It also allows you to instantly export an item to a calculator built into the website.”
- Guild Wars 2 Trading Post — Free and Paid GW2 TP Scraper Tools. “Ever wonder what would happen if you could search on the Trading Post with search criteria like “profit margin %” and “demand”? Now you can, though it does cost money for this beastly tool.”
- Capsule Computer — 2012 Game of the Year Awards. “Emerging as the elite MMO of 2012, Guild Wars 2 has set a few standards for any new titles in its genre. For example, customizing and building your initial character presents fun for any onlooker. Many decisions about character creation can be made from chest hair – male obviously – all the way to the color of your boots! After picking out your looks and favorite colors, you can further define your background story by answering a series of questions (appraising your value of ferocity, wisdom, and charm).”
- MMORPG.com — Future Events. “ArenaNet is very cagey about events right up until the time they happen. In 2012, the events took different paths at times and we wonder in today’s Guild Wars 2 column, how 2013′s events will play out. See what we think before adding your ideas in the comments.”

- Reddit — The Worst Part of the Game to Solo… “…isn’t even Orr, it’s everywhere with Dredge. Trying to get the vistas in Dredgehaunt Cliffs is perhaps the worst thing I’ve done in game. That said, I’m only at 94% map completion, so I’m sure there are worse spots… (But please. Tell me there aren’t.)” [Raphia: I loved the first few comments on this post: "Imagine for a moment. Dredge that ride karka and have the power to summon princess dolls and toy golems." and "Risen dredge that ride karka and have the power to summon princess dolls and toy golems, underwater."]
- Kill Ten Rats — Core Event Density. “Game Director Colin Johnanson recently stated that this year they are going to make their core game as strong as possible. He was specifically talking about bosses and creatures, but it made me wonder. Here was the game director saying that he wanted to refine the base. Colin could have just plugged all the wonderful new features and content. The big brass only have so many dev hours a day, and to send even a lone dev (the one that didn’t refill the coffee) at creatures that could be “working as intended” gives me pause. Perhaps I am too jaded from Guild Wars 1 as I expect what we got at launch to be it.”
- Inventory Full — Going South. “After a weekend of full-on World vs World action my Elementalist really needed some R&R so she thought she might take a trip to the coast. The south coast, about as far south as you can go if you want the wildlife to be, well, alive. Just past Mount Maelstrom, that huge active volcano full of Destroyers. Lovely picnic spot.”
- The Orr Orator — WHAT NOT TO WEAR.
- Massively — ArenaNet sells three million copies of Guild Wars 2, looks to the future. “We’ve got a whole passel of Guild Wars 2 news for you today, courtesy of ArenaNet Game Director Colin Johanson, who took to the company’s blog to talk about some of the game plan for 2013. Johanson kicked things off by nonchalantly dropping the fact that Guild Wars 2 has now surpassed three million copies sold. (The last million milestone was hit in early September.) He then started to talk about goals for 2013 — specifically, to “build on areas of the game that were successful in 2012″ and to “learn and apply lessons from things that didn’t work as well.”"
- SciFi4Me.com — Guild Wars 2: A Game of Charrs and A.O.E.s. “Guild Wars 2 is anything but a cookie cutter MMO. It doesn’t really fit into one single genre or theme setting of games. It is a melting pot of various themes all intermingling to create a vast and somewhat complicated world. It has your classic fantasy mixed with hyper-tech and sprinkled with a little bit of steam punk and uber-industrial. And much to my excitement it features a couple of very interesting races to choose from (let alone its similarly interesting classes).”
- Guild Wars 2 Junkies — Dev Blog: GW2 Upgrades Coming – 2013 the Year of Rewards. “Today, Colin Johanson posted a long awaited developer blog that gives us insight into the next six months of development for Guild Wars 2. The main focus of the changes come in the forms of rewards and incentives for players to be playing different parts of the game. Colin breaks down the game into three spheres: sPVP, PVE and WvW. Each portion of the game should see some upgrades to the way players earn rewards. Whether it’s achievements that reward tokens to buy gear or WvW prestige ranks that award new skills and abilities, big things are coming for Guild Wars 2.”
- Massively — Flameseeker Chronicles: The game at the end of Guild Wars 2, revisited. “I tend to dislike the term “endgame” because I suspect most people have scribbled out their own definition of the word and that anyone who dares to use it in reference to anything outside of that definition is summarily dismissed and excommunicated. I’m never quite sure what it is I’m being excommunicated from, mind you, but there’s definitely a feeling of being suddenly, inexplicably, apart. Alien. Other.”
- Guild Wars 2 Hub — GW2Hub, Massively and KTR Round Table: Gold Buying. “Well I guess this round table (of sorts) all started from when you Tweeted about the notorious gold buyer who proclaimed on Reddit to have bought gold from a Chinese gold farmer, in order to buy an Unbreakable Bell. It’s funny you should have tweeted about it when you did as it was only an hour or so after I’d read the post. Why do you think it bothered you so much?”
- Kill Ten Rats — 2013 From the Clouds. “Colin Johanson (whose name I can barely spell, and I apparently can’t stop talking about) released the much anticipated official blog post about plans for early 2013. The post is a whopping 2500+ words with some good information, some vague teasers, and focus on direction. It’s still pretty high level, as ArenaNet really does not like talking about things that aren’t nailed, stapled, and Gorilla-glued to the floor. Still there is quite a bit of meat to discuss.”
- Forbes.com — ‘Guild Wars 2‘ Sells 3 Million Copies, Tells Us Why 2013 Will Be Exciting. “Guild Wars 2 (GW2) has had some wonderful successes since it’s launch in August 28, 2012. It won Time magazine’s Game of the Year, multiple Best MMO awards, and — obvious to those who have played it — awards for its lovely art direction. Now GW2 can add another feat onto the pile: ArenaNet has sold 3 million copies of their subscription-free game.”
- The Egg Baron — My thoughts on “the big post”. “If you have not already seen the “big post” on main Guild Wars 2 site head over and give it a read. It has been the thing we all us players have been waiting for. It gives us a sense of direction as to where the game is headed and overall I think the message is good. Today I will share my thoughts on this message as well as provide a quick summary of what Colin had to say.”
- Hunter’s Insight — Going Forward. “Arenanet posted about where they’re doing in the next 6 months and I thought I’d just reflect on what they have to say. First of all let me say congratulations on selling 3 million copies, quite an accomplishment for any game. To start with there is a video. It’s very general and vague, with no real juicy details to get into so I’m not going to post it. Basically they’re going to work on the game focusing on the existing world, learning from what they’ve done, improving it, adding to it, with new features and content. This is no surprise. But lets get to the details from the post.”
- Black Lions Profit — Flipping Jewellery on the GW2 Trading Post. “Today I took a random selection of jewellery (rings, Amulets and Earrings) and added them to my watch list over at gw2tp.net and I was not surprised to see how much profit there was to be made from flipping them!”
- Healing the masses — Botters, Gold Sellers and the Gold Grind. “Ok so time to be a little controversial which I just soooo hate to be so strap yourselves in for a short story of a man who bought gold, illegally from botters with hearts so cold. To avoid the grind and enjoy content his way but some people say that is not how you play. But onward now to ramblings of mechanical things stirred from a story about items that ring.”
- Guild Wars 2 Trading Post — Unidentified Dyes – Arenanet Economic Blunder? “Any time an item becomes easily accessible to the general population and the demand remains the same then its price will decrease proportionate to the increase in availability. I am thoroughly disappointed with the Guild Wars 2 economic staff if they have no plan to offset the devastating effect that free dyes will have on the game. Supposedly you are going to be able to pick up a crown every day and ten as a reward for some monthly achievement.”
- The Orr Orator — MAN DISAPPEARS DURING FRACTAL LEAP.
- Kill Ten Rats — Black Lion PvP. “I play the market in Guild Wars 2 in spurts. One of my goals is to get a permanent merchant contract eventually, which will set me back a cool 150-200 gold. In cash I have about 15% of what I need. So I’ve been dutifully playing the market every day trying to build that amount passively.”
- nerdshock.com — The Journey through Tyria begins. “I must admit I was a little hesitant to dedicate a full blogpost series to Guild Wars 2. But, after my quick visit to TERA I realized even more how awesome Guild Wars 2 truly is. My first experiences in TERA reminded me how kind Guild Wars 2 was for me while I was getting used to the mechanics and how the game was able to pull me in during the first minutes of gameplay. It inspired me to document my journey through Tyria.”
- Inventory Full — In Dierdre’s Steps. “I’d never heard of Dierdre’s Steps. Some research after the fact told me that it was added with the Halloween patch. The full details, together with a video, are here at the invaluable Dulfy site. If you asked me I’d tell you I’m useless at jumping puzzles and hate doing them. That’s not entirely true. I’m actually not that bad, probably no worse than average and I do enjoy having done a jumping puzzle. It’s the actual doing of them I don’t like. It’s stressful and I prefer to avoid anything that raises my heart-rate.”
- Lopez IRL — Tyrian Times: ArenaNet to Fix Everything in Guild Wars 2. “Reading Colin Johanson’s blog post on ArenaNet’s early 2013 plans for Guild Wars 2 was a joyous experience for me. It might seem a little hyperbolic to say ArenaNet will fix everything in Guild Wars 2, but here’s where I stand: My last two Guild Wars 2 posts, which you should totally read, were about anticipating 2013 in Guild Wars 2 and my Guild Wars 2 review. In those posts, I expanded on some concerns I had for Guild Wars 2. My hope was ArenaNet would be able to address some, but not all, of my concerns by the end of the year. Colin Johanson addressed literally every single concern and then some in his blog post.”
- Diapers, Dragons, and Warp Drives — The Vistas of Guild Wars 2 – Divinity’s Reach Part 1. “For those of you that want to reach 100% map completion in Guild Wars 2, the vistas will probably be the most difficult part as they can much more difficult to reach than the waypoints and points of interest. As I work on leveling my Mesmer up, I am also working on getting her 100% map completion. Along the way I am keeping a log of all of the vistas so that I can write a guide for each zone and where to find the vistas. This edition of The Vistas of Guild Wars 2 will be on Divinity’s Reach, the human capital city. Because this guide is so image heavy, I have decided to break it up into parts.”
- Under the Pale Tree — Guesting…finally here? “So we just got a new Guild Wars 2 blog post…announcing something that pretty much everyone’s been waiting for since launch. Guesting is finally coming! It’ll be in as of January 28th. However. There’s a very big “but” included with that announcement.”
- Reddit — A guide to useful and fun consumables. “Hey everyone, I am sure by now many of you are aware and actively using some of the more popular consumables (i.e. Ash Legion Spy Kit, Experimental Portal Gun, Ogre Pet Whistle). I want to shed some light on other consumables that may or may not be well known and can be quite useful depending on the situation. Hopefully this will inspire some of you to go back to the low level zones and do some events to unlock them.”
- Dulfy — GW2 Useful and Fun Consumables guide. “A guide on useful and fun consumables in GW2 and their acquisition. Most of the consumables are not useable in SPvP and WvW unless otherwise specified.”
- Gamebreaker.tv — Does A Guild Wars 2 Grind Exist? “While everyone’s ogling the new and shiny Guild Wars 2 developer video, this one from Colin Johanson, I’d like to go back to an earlier one – the early one, in fact. Back when the earth was new and none of us had ever heard the phrases “fiscal cliff” or “Gangnam style,” there was the Guild Wars 2 Manifesto. While you could argue as to whether ArenaNet fulfilled all its lofty promises, there’s only one I’d like to address today: grind.”
- Guild Wars 2 Trading Post — Gold Wars TP Tool Officially Available. “Gold Wars – Ever wonder what would happen if you could search on the Trading Post with search criteria like “profit margin %” and “demand”? Now you can, with this beastly new tool!”
- The Egg Baron — Promoting Common Crafting Materials. “This is part of an on going series where I show the reader how to promote crafting materials and talk about the possibilities of using this method to convert skill points into gold. I have previously done articles on promoting rare materials, fine materials, and piles of dust. Today I will be discussing common crafting materials.”

- GuildWars2PC.com — Guild Wars 2 Daily News: Expanded Achievements, Guild Missions Coming in Few Months. “Making good on his promise, Guild Wars 2 game director Colin Johanson has come out with the MMO’s roadmap for the next few months, and it’s looking to be one filled with sweeter achievement rewards, guild missions, and possibly even live event stories in World vs World.”
- Kill Ten Rats — The Daily Grind. “I have plenty of goals in Guild Wars 2. Their importance is like some weird slurry of where the wants and pressure change the densities of each goal. Right now I really want a permanent trader contract, as unfeasible as it is, but I am working towards it mostly by playing the market.”
- Nerdy Bookahs — Bookahneer’s Geekwatch (January 17, 2013). “Welcome to today’s Bookahneer’s Geekwatch! The place about miscellaneous interesting news related to Guild Wars 2 – and on occasion, other games. This is our first post this year. I hadn’t even realized that I had taken such a long break. - Gamebreaker.tv — Guild Wars 2 Armor Guide: Dungeon Sets. “In most MMORPGs, acquiring loot is a key motivation for the players, and it’s no different in when it comes to Guild Wars 2 armor. We want our avatars to look as bad-ass as possible, so we’re willing to go on massive quests, farm endless materials, and trounce the most malignant forces in search of shiny baubles. In Guild Wars 2, obtaining gear is mostly a cosmetic affair. Once you snag the best stats with level 80 exotic armor, the hunt begins for armor sets that will make you stand out and turn heads.”
- YouTube — thesparrowsjourney: Guild Wars 2 – Broken Tank! “One of the most annoying times in #guildwars2 :( a BROKEN tank! How they dare giving me a broken tool!?”
- YouTube — Marflus1: Portal’s “Still Alive” in Guild Wars 2. “An Arrangement of “Still Alive” from Portal, produced using the Wintersday Bell and Pipe Organ in Guild Wars 2, a little bit of pitch editing in Audacity, and an awful lot of time in Adobe Premiere Pro. I’ve already produced a song using only the notes available ingame on the bell, so I wanted to get a little bit more adventurous, and allow myself a fully chromatic scale. Somewhere around 40 bells were used in the creation of this video, mostly due to recording at tonnes of locations before picking the clips I liked best. Recording all the parts probably took about 3-4 hours in total, spread over a period of several days. Sound + Video editing to pull everything together took…a long time. A long, long time. Way longer than Billie Jean.”
- Gamebreaker.tv — Guild Wars 2 Sold 3 Million Copies, Outlines Plan For 2013. “ArenaNet’s Colin Johanson revealed today that Guild Wars 2 sold 3 million copies since its launch in late August 2012. He also discussed their high-level plans for the next six months of the game, during which they will be applying what they’ve learned from their previous content patches. Mr. Johanson states that the key pillars of Guild Wars 2 are the sense of community and the dynamic, living world. In 2013, they are aiming to build upon those areas by adding more content, events, and stories to the open world and incentivizing all players to explore and experience them.”

- The Siege #23: The Craft of Crafting. “Hello again Guild Warriors and welcome to another exciting edition of The Siege. This week we luanch our new format which will be focused more on what is happening in the game than worrying about what is happening outside of it. So with that in mind we welcome you to the show and hope you enjoy it. This week we discuss new WvW knowledge as given to us by the devs including how many pieces of siege equipment can be placed in a given area, how long until equipment disappears, and a little myth busting on their part. Also we discuss how better to report bot activity and we take a look at crafting and discuss how we craft with our characters as well as the benefits of crafting professions after level 80.”
- Gamebreaker.tv — Guild Wars 2 Guesting And Paid Server Transfers Coming Soon! “At long last, Guild Wars 2 guesting will be implemented on January 28! And there was much rejoicing. In case you haven’t been watching GuildCast (and shame on you, really!), guesting is the ability to visit other servers and play with friends who call a different world home. Everyone thought this feature would be implemented at — or shortly after — release, so we’ve been waiting quite some time for it to rear its glorious tardy head.”

- The Mystfell Journals — Entry 1: The Great Hunt. “Last night sleep evaded me. The excitement of being part of the Great Hunt pumped through my veins and, when I finally dozed off, Raven brought me a dream of success that further fuels my determination. Raven whispered to me the secrets of the minotaur, its heavy and clumsy nature will surely work to my advantage, using cunning to strike down the beast. When I awoke, I knew no other trophy would suffice.”
- The Mystfell Journals — Entry 2: Spirits of the Wild. “It has taken two days for the alcohol to fully leave my body. The moot took it out of me, and I was not yet prepared to leave my home village for glory without feeling my best. I have heard many tales of warriors who let their ferocity and determination get the better of themselves, leading to drunken brawls with each other, and even with tables and chairs. Such idiocy shall not befall me. Raven teaches me there is a time to act and a time for thought, and for two days, as my body healed itself and strength returned, I followed Raven’s teachings by preparing for my journeys.”
- The Mystfell Journals — Entry 3: The Wolf Shrine. “For an adventurer like me it seems that rest eludes me. As I finished bandaging up my wounds from the fierce battle against stampeding minotaur, I realised night had cast its long dark shadow across the forest. In this poor light, I would never be able to successfully track down what could possibly be the minotaur spirit itself. Frustrated, I spoke with the Wolf shaman. His kind words gave me some comfort but I saw he was holding something back, a lingering worry I couldn’t help but ask about.”
