Canthan New Year 2010 – Year of the Rabbit

Now that the Chinese  have celebrated their own new year, the year of the rabbit, it’s Guild Wars’ turn to celebrate the year of the Celestial Rabbit as well. Wether you love to do the boardwalk games, the dragon arena or the ever-so-jolly Rollerbeetle races, there’s always something for you to enjoy! Also be sure to check in with the final event, we’ll be hosting Japanese district 1 together with GWEN and we’ll also be having Lunar collectors, so if you want to stick around with the GuildMag crew, be sure to come and join us there!

The Year of the Rabbit is upon us—it’s time for the annual Canthan New Year’s Festival! Help honor the Celestial Rabbit, a heavenly hare that will descend from the sky to bestow good luck upon the populace for all of 2011—but only if the traditional New Year’s feast meets the tiny beast’s high standards!

The 2011 Canthan New Year’s Festival begins at noon Pacific (-8 GMT) on Thursday, February 3rd, 2011 and will end at noon Pacific (-8 GMT) on Monday, February 7th, 2011. On Sunday, February 6th, the Celestial Rabbit will appear in Shing Jea Monastery every three hours to sample Canthan cuisine. The Rabbit’s feast culminates in dancing, fireworks, a shower of gifts, and special prizes for festival-goers—but only if the Rabbit is satisfied with the offerings! Ensure the Rabbit’s blessing of good fortune by helping prepare dishes for the feast.
