Raids have arrived and the Guild Wars 2 raiders are out there having fun! In Episode 35 of the GuildMag Podcast, we break down how the first week of raiding has gone for the GW2 community, and what we’re experiencing and looking forward to in this first raid wing. Heart of Thorns has been out for one month as well and we cover what’s kept us engaged and what we think we’ll be doing moving forward. We’ve also got Gem Store, community, and game news and more! Our apologies for the late release of this VoD; Twitch and YouTube didn’t like talking to each other this week.

Show Notes
- Plasma weapons skins are available for one Black Lion ticket and the Gem Store also has a Raider’s Supply Package and a Mini Angry Chest. The chest can be converted into a Mini Red Spark by completing a scavenger hunt. You can read about the new items here, and find a gallery of the Plasma weapon skin and a guide for the Mini Angry Chest hunt over at dulfy.net.
- The patch last week also helped that_shaman produce some data-mining info which did not include info about new hairstyles; Miko misspoke (blame her migraines)!
- Valiant’s been raiding with GuildMag’s Group 1, which killed the Vale Guardian on Friday. He also produced a written and 5-minute video guide which can be found here. These raid guides are a new series here at GuildMag and more are forthcoming!
- Aaron and Miko have not raided yet for a variety of reasons which we discussed including pug experience and raiding mindset.
- Metas are starting to emerge around raids, which is not surprising, and we discuss whether or not the roles being filled by elite specializations feel like a return to a more traditional “trinity.” How does this affect ArenaNet’s “play how you want” philosophy?
- A month on from HoT’s launch, mastery grinding reality is real as are the need to find taxis for maps. Still, there’s so much we each want to do that HoT will be keeping us busy for a while yet.
- that_shaman also released an Official Monster Scale Guide which shows the different size scales of bosses in-game, that we found quite cool.
