If you’re reading this, I’d like to begin by thanking you for taking an interest in us, whether this is the first you’ve heard about GuildMag or whether you’ve been with us from the very beginning. For those who’ve just discovered GuildMag, we are a Guild Wars 2 fansite that produces free digital magazines (and some physical ones too!) for Tyrians everywhere to enjoy. We’ve been doing this since 2010 and are now approaching our 8th birthday – quite an achievement for a volunteer-driven fansite! But having just released our 21st magazine, the GuildMag Annual 2017, we find ourselves at a crossroads, and need your help in order to continue producing our unique content.
Everything we do is only made possible by an awesome team of Guild Wars 2 players working to write, edit and design all our magazines and web content. Last year we lost several key members due to IRL commitments, and right now we don’t have enough people to work on future content. To put it simply, if we don’t find more team members, GuildMag will be forced to close. I think it would be a huge shame to see yet another Guild Wars 2 fansite close, and am determined to do everything possible to not let this happen.
So how can you help? We’re looking to rebuild our core team of writers with players who have a passion for Guild Wars 2 and who would like to write about their favourite aspect(s) of the game. You don’t need to be an amazing writer or have even attempted it before; in addition to a friendly environment, we’re here to help you improve your skills in any aspect of digital publishing, whether that be writing, copyediting or even layout design – something that’s great to put on your résumé! If writing isn’t quite your thing, there are also opportunities for copyeditors, designers and even Twitch streaming roles. I’m of a firm belief that we have a place for anyone and everyone, regardless of their skillset.
If, after reading the above, you would like more information, all of our available roles can be found at guildmag.com/join. Even if you don’t think you could contribute personally, perhaps you know somebody who might – in which case, spreading the word about our open positions helps just as much! Any questions you might have can be directed to email@example.com.
Thank you for reading. Here’s hoping we can continue publishing in 2018 and beyond!
